Stage 1 – Parrying
1) Basic Outside/Inside Parrying with the Palm
2) Crane’s Wing to the Inside and Outside of the Arm
3) C-Step to Avoid the Punch
There are three (3) types of Parrying that a student must demonstrate before they will earn Stage 1 Certification in Martial Defense Tactics. First, the student must demonstrate the ability to Parry a punch with an open palm both to the inside and outside of the arm. They will have to Parry the punch without moving their feet at close range as well as demonstrate the ability to parry the punch at a forty-five (45) degree angle. Second, they will have to demonstrate a Crane’s Wing to both the inside and outside of the punch while stepping at a forty-five (45) degree angle. Finally, they will have to demonstrate the ability to use the C-Step to avoid a punch. Once the student can demonstrate all of these techniques, they will be eligible for Stage 1 Certification in Martial Defense Tactics.
Stage 2 – Sticky-Hand
1) Sticky-Hand to both the Inside and Outside of the Arm
2) Parry-Strike Technique to the Outside of the Arm
3) Jeet Kune Do Drill
There are three (3) types of Sticky-Hand Techniques that a student must demonstrate before they will earn Stage 2 Certification in Martial Defense Tactics. First, the student must be able to demonstrate basic Sticky-Hand to both the Inside and Outside of the arm. The student must also show a finishing technique to either the neck or the jaw. At this Stage, they do not have to know the name or angle and direction of the points they are hitting. Second, the student must be able to perform the Parry-Strike Technique to the outside of the arm. The student must show the ability to grab the wrist points and get the opponent off balanced before striking in order to pass this portion of the test. Finally, the student must perform the Jeet Kune Do Drill and explain how it can be used in Self-Defense. Once the student can demonstrate all of these techniques, they will eligible for Stage 2 Certification in Martial Defense Tactics.
